Alumni Newsletter

Dear Alumni

Greetings alumni of the Phi Mu Delta Mu Xi chapter! My name is Steve Matuska, an information technology major and the Alumni Chairmen for the fall 2015 semester. I'm writing to inform you of the goals we are striving for this semester and the great events that we have planned.

First, a recap of last semester. During the spring 2015 semester, Alpha Alpha class was inducted into our chapter with 11 members; the most members that chapter has seen in a single class in a very long time. This semester we are planning many recruitment events and social gatherings before rush week starts to attract as many aspiring potentials as we can. We already have fifteen plus potential students and hope to see them all the way through to the end of the fall semester finishing the semester off with forty five plus members total. Over the summer, brothers participated in the Phi Mu Delta Sapphire Leadership Institute in Medford, New Jersey and received the Clarence Dexter Pierce Chapter of the Year Award. We are proud of this national recognition and thought you would be too. You can read more on PCToday.

Now, on to the fall semester. We kicked it off right with membership at thirty active brothers and a Riverwalk Cleanup the Sunday before our classes started. This was our first service project of the semester. About half of the chapter was able to attend and we are already looking forward to another upcoming service event at Lycoming Valley Intermediate School.

Our annual brotherhood retreat took place August 28 – 30 and provided us the opportunity to get to know one another better. We participated in team building exercises, great talks around the campfire and simply enjoyed the woods of Huntingdon County, PA. Special thanks to our brother, Dustin Bailey, for sharing his property with us.

Our next event takes place this weekend during Parent and Family Weekend. We look forward to interacting with the parents of many brothers during a fun day of barbecuing, yard games and a chapter presentation designed to show them that a fraternity is a step in the right direction for their son to become a better man.

We as a chapter are in the process of attaining robes for our rituals. By having these robes for the rituals, we can provide an official and meaningful experience for all incoming brothers. If you are interested in helping us purchase the robes we need to accomplish this goal, please contact myself, Steve Matuska and I can provide more details.

Lastly, I have a message from nationals! Don’t forget to pay your alumni dues gentlemen. Contact Christopher Lamberti or Scott Frederick.

Thanks you all for your support to the chapter over the years. We really appreciate it. Keep on the lookout for more messages like this and in the meantime, follow us on Facebook.

Sincerely,

Steve Matuska

Alumni Chairman
